Blickfelder Festival

Inventing Games through Play

Invented by children. Played by you.

Gebrüder Frei: Die Spielemacher, Primarschule Sihlweid, Zürich (CH)

What actually makes a game a game – and how do you invent one that doesn't exist yet? Under the guidance of professional game designers, pupils did exactly that: testing rules, discarding them, rethinking them, inventing stories, and bringing game pieces to life. Along the way, familiar game conventions were boldly questioned – does a memory pair really have to consist of two cards?

At the Blickfelder Festival, the pupils will present their self-developed games to an audience for the first time. They explain the rules, guide people through the gameplay, and invite everyone to join in.
